Is The West aWhole Unity against Islam and the Islamic World? (3) 3- The choice of making peace:
It is a Prophetical choice complying with the Quranic Verse ((But if they incline to peace, then incline to it, and trust in Allah...)) (Surah 8-61)
Ibn Qedamah said {Hodnah}, peace treaty for specific time, means leaving fight for a specific time for compensation or not. ((Allah and His Messenger declare that the believers are free of any obligation towards those of the unbelievers with whom you had made treaties.)) (Surah 9-1)
Muslims must respect their treaties.((O! you who believe! Fulfill the pledges..)) (Surah 5-1) and ((So fulfill your treaties with such people according to the terms of the treaty..)) (Surah 9-4)
Al-Amier Al-Sanani said, commenting on Hodaibia treaty {This treaty proves that it is accepted to make treaties with unbelievers for a specific period to achieve some profits which the Imam (leader) can see even his assistants cannot see.}
Ibn Al-Qaiem said {From Hoaibia Treaty we can conclude that the Emam, the ruler, can take the first step to make peace as long as this achieves profits of Muslims.}
Traits for peace, although they are Prophetical choices, can be refused by some people as they consider it leaving out your rights and making friends among those who are the enemies of Islam. These people are mistaken; it is accepted to do so as the Prophet (PBUH) did it. This choice has an aim. It is to achieve the profits of Muslims which are imposed by the realist and its demands which may lead to the existence of new enemies who are more dangerous. These changes may oblige Muslims to make alliance with non-Muslims to face other non-Muslims who are more dangerous or we may make peace with some of our enemies to concentrate on fighting or facing other enemies who are more dangerous. There is no contradiction between making peace and applying the Judgmental rights and keeping our words with non-Muslims. There is no difference between giving up the fight and correcting the beliefs and the dogmas of those who have treaties with us. The Prophet (PBUH) reconciled between Muslims and Qurish without givung up applying the Islamic Jurisprudence or making friendship with those whom we are frobidden to make friends.
4- The choice of co-living:
The Prophet (PBUH) made this choice when He (PBUH) ordained His companion to go to Habasha (Ethiopia) as there was a fair king who did not transgress anyone. However, that king and his people did not believe in Islam at that time. Those Muhajereen followed that very policy even after the Prophet (PBUH) had moved to Medina and He (PBUH) did not ask Muslims there to change their policy although Nagashi, the ruler of Hasbasha, was not applying the judgment of Islam. Muslims there realized what they ewer obliged to co live with non-Muslims as long as they could practice their religion. If they asked that ruler to apply the Islamic Jurisprudence, he would not apply it and if he would do, his people would be against him. The companion of the Prophet (PBUH) had co lived with non-Muslims in Habasha before Nagashi adopted Islam but secretly. We found that, Muslims lived there without giving up their religion and its judgments.
5- The choice of isolation and being neutral:
This choice does not mean isolation from people and living alone. We mean not being involved in conflicts between other people. This choice was concluded from the speech of the Prophet, Muhamed (PBUH), when He (PBUH) said; {{There will be Fitnah (trial in religion). He who is not involved in it is better than he who is involved by all means}}.
6- The choice of Jihad and deterring
This choice is concluded from this Quranic Verse (( And prepare for them with whatever force you can, and with cavalry, to terrify the enemy of Allah and your enemy with it, and other besides them that you do not know, Allah knows them. And whatever you expend in the cause of Allah you shall repaid in full, and you shall not be wrong in the least.)) (Surah 8-60)
((Mrch forth, in any way you can and strive your utmost in the cause of Allah with your wealth and your lives, that is better for you, if you only know.)) (Surah 9-40) Differentiating between making illegal friendship, from the view point of Islam, and the legal cooperation:
Some people are mistaken when they do not differentiate between being in the side of non-Muslims and the permissibility of cooperation with other in doing what is good and pious. They think that forbidding supporting non-Muslims means forbidding cooperating with them in doing what is good and pious, or treating them well and with good morals.
((Allah forbids you not with regard to those who have not fought you in the cause of Religion, nor expelled you from your homes, that you should be considerate and deal only with them, surely Allah loves just. Indeed! Allah forbids you only with regard to those who have fought you in the cause of Religion, and expelled you from your homes, and have helped in expelling you, that you should take hem for friends. And whoever takes them for friends, those, they are evildoers)). (Surah 60-8/9)
((And good deeds and evil deeds are not equal. Repel evil with what is best, then he with whom you had enmity shall become as a loyal friend!)) (Surah 41-34)
Our Great Prophet (PBUH) said {{ Treat people in good manners}}. And we have mentioned a lot of examples which show the cooperation between the Prophet (PBUH) and non-Muslims in what good and pious and this all shows the good treatment and the good morals towards others and this is not against Islamic values. Ibn Al-Qaiem said { Allah the Al-mighty forbids taking non-Muslims for friends. Cooperation with them and treating them well is different from this idea. The other is not, it is the land of Kufr, is not a correct idea. Where is the land of transgression, the land of getting back to Kufr, the land of Bdah (Any innovated practice in religion)? The scholars have showed each part and its judgments. We cannot see the world through the limited view of these people. Islam has its philosophy when it deals with non-Muslims. This philosophy is based just and fairness. It differentiates between those who do not believe in Islam without fighting Muslims and those who fight them.
This philosophy wants to find ways of calling unto Allah and these way are in favor of Islam. It may be profitable to Islam to make some of our enemies neutral or to make cooperation with them.
We should consider this Islamic vision with its wisdom when we deal with the west to differentiate among their different attitudes and reactions. In this way, our attitudes towards them will be just and fair in the way which achieves the profits of Islam and Muslims and all humanity.
