Years of ferocious and merciless fight Injustice increased
The number of prisoners of the Islamic groups stepped up from two thousand to twenty thousand. Those were imprisoned for long years.
Violent practices augmented in prisons and concentration camps that it became the worst distress ever experienced by the Islamic movement in the history of Egypt. Prisons witnessed brutal torture, unprecedented medical negligence and inhumane treatment. Scores were put on the death row and hundreds received different sentences. Trials became court martial.
Ü Thousands of the Islamic group followers were homeless and others were killed. Followers of the Islamic groups all over the countery became homeless, wanted or imprisoned. Thousands of families were made homeless. Mothers became childless, wives widowed and children orphaned. The sons, husbands and parents of these families were murdered. Above all, fountains of blood were shed on both sides and many fell victims in the action.
Ü The policy of drying up the wells and hitting in the heart came to be practiced. And so did many other kinds of policy that do not appear but amidst the flames of fights and gun fires.
Ü Breaking into mosques and houses stepped up. Houses became of no sanctity and mosques were no longer sacred places. The Call of the Islamic group disappeared completely in thin air. Moreover, the Call to Allah almost vanished.
Ü Those malicious enemies awaiting any slip of the Muslims took advantage of the on-going conflict and accused all those calling to Allah branding him a terrorist. Ü ÜThey deployed all the means of media to get at those calling to Allah. They adopted the call for drying up all the wells of the Muslim movement. They also called for arresting the members of peaceful Islamic movements: the ancestral, notification and Muslim brothers movements. They demanded shutting down all religious associations, like the legislative association and Sunnah advocates.
ÜThe reputation of Muslims was distorted abroad. Muslim youth became afraid of frequenting the mosques.
Ü Distress magnified even outside of prisons: consecutive manhunts and random arrests. Most of the families of those arrested suffered a breakdown.
Ü The Islamic movement experienced a great deal of hardships and wrongdoing. Ü ÜIt suffered the greatest losses. On the other hand, the enemies of Islam reaped the best of gains.
Ü In the absence of the Call, negative phenomena spread in the Egyptian society. For example, violence, thuggery, drug dealing, and pornography became prevalent among youth. Over and above, homosexuality, Satanist cults and fake Prophets came to existence. In a normal reaction to the absence of the right Call, the phenomenon of branding others with disbelief.
Ü We saw these calamities and many others.
Ü We saw the flames of affliction fanned frantically to eat out all that is in its way mercilessly and relentlessly.
Ü We saw the worst of afflictions distorting the image of Islam before distorting our own selves.
ÜWe saw the millstone of war grinding the Call to this religion, alongside human bones and skulls.
Ü We saw all the lamps turned off; there was neither a ray of hope in the horizon nor a guiding sign on the road.
Ü We saw the gap going beyond any bridging. Our objectives and aspirations became far-fetched. Instead of stepping forward to attain our goals, we retraced our steps several years back.
Many of the Muslims' interests were squandered. Nothing remained but a ripped-off country, a dying Call and an awaiting enemy
Having seen all this, we had to have to stop and have a thorough look at ourselves and our history.
* The Islamic group is a group of Muslims, controlled by the pure Jurisprudence. It follows the Islamic Laws no matter what. These groups reject hypocrisy and indolence. For them, logic and dialogue are the arbitrators. They never overlook reality or history; they rather learn from the predecessors' experiences and heed the lessons therein. These groups do not believe in trial- and –error methodology. Age is rather short and the last thing Islam needs is experimenting. This has irrefutable evidence in history. Islamic groups follow the example of the Prophet (PBUH) and the Orthodox Caliphs. Members of these groups have aspirations and goals to attain. Yet, the on-going fight stands as a barrier on the way of accomplishing all this. Thus, a time out was imperative. We had to end the state of stagnation by making the sound of wisdom and prudence higher than that of guns and machine guns.
Ü We posed unarmed and declared that we would cease fighting and launched violence-restraint initiative. This initiative was proposed after a thorough study, a legal one. It was the result of a realistic vision with insights in the real conditions surrounding us in Egypt and the Arab world.
Ü We lived with the Prophetic words, "By Him in Whose Hands my life is! They never ask me for a plan in which they hold high the sanctities of Allah with which I do not present them."
